IndyCar CEO Bernard says at least one team owner wants him fired

TV ratings for the Indianapolis 500 were up 8 percent from a year ago.
IndyCar CEO Randy Bernard has confirmed that he's under fire from at least one team owner.

Bernard did not identify the team owner in a tweet posted on Tuesday night, but he said the team owner is trying to get him fired.

“It is true that an owner is calling others trying to get me fired,” Bernard wrote. “I have had several owners confirm this. Disappointing.”

Bernard then tweeted to a follower that the owner is not Roger Penske.

Bernard noted that TV ratings for Sunday's Indianapolis 500 were up 8 percent over last year's highly promoted, centennial-era race.

Team owners do not have a direct say in Bernard's future. He was hired by the board of directors of Indianapolis Motor Speedway Corp.
